Is the 66 289 SJ negative battery cable mounted to the engine block same as the 67? I found this one mounted on the front of the cylinder head. I would assume the alternator ground is in the same place.

Lastly, is the coil mounted to the right side of the intake with TE, AC and PS?  I found this one on the left side cylinder head.

I have to assume this engine has been removed and things like the heads replaced.  I doubt anything is correct.

The battery ground (aka negative) and the alternator ground are attached by a bolt (or a stud with a hex head drive in the middle, for AT cars, no known Ford part number, I used "UNK-02" in the spreadsheets), 20350-S36, and a lock washer, 34943-S36, to the a 289 block under the alternator.
It should be the same as 1967 Mustangs. The "stud" was introduced for early 1966 Ford 289 engines.

On my 66 San Jose Hardtop with smog and PS, the coil was mounted on the RH side to the intake manifold. To be truthful, it appears that the coil went anywhere it would fit on a car with multiple options.

I've found the hex drive stud on automatic cars as there was a holder clamp there for the metal cooling lines.

It should look like this. Purchased the Plasti-Dip at Home Depot for the coolant line holder. I used a little gun blue on the clamp before I dipped it.

The bracket is identified in Ford Car Parts (aka MPC) Illustrated section, A71, page 6, as base number 7C008. I have not been able to find any further documentation.

I agree. I dipped the bracket a couple of times to get a thicker layer on it. Instead of gun blue, I use the Eastwood metal blackening dip before phosphating. The bracket, 7C008, is available from most Mustang parts sellers.

I seems the motor has been out and apart sometime ago.  No signs of the stud or bracket for the lines. It would certainly make it easier to install. I know the shop who recently put a new carb on it lost most of the original hardware. They were also the ones who stated it had 6 cylinder steering linkage.  I'm sure the shop who had the engine out lost half of that stuff too. The more I look, the more I find. I noticed 1 bolt was halfway out on the cross member. Lots of poor repairs the the engine harness too.

You need the stud that I could not find a part number for, and I identified as "UNK02". It has 7/16-14 threads at both ends. Stud 380808-Sxx is used on the 200 I-6 only, and has 3/16-16 at the end that goes into the block, 7/16-14 for the cables. Apparently, the I-6 block is tapped for 3/8/16 threads for battery ground, the 289 block is tapped for 7/16-14.

having a difficult time identifying specification  and then probably finding bolt to attach ground wire from battery to the front right(passenger side) of engine block.

Any help or spec out here? Someone have one perhaps?

similar question on correct coarse threaded screw with hex top to attach ground wire to firewall.

Should be in the Ford assembly manual and then cross-reference to Jim's fastener spreadsheet in the library section.  Or, can cross-reference the fastener ID to the AMK guide to fasteners.
