First I need to know if the Rotor, Points, Condenser, Cap and lead wire need's to be Autolite or Fomoco? My distributor is Autolite. My car was schedule for build 12/16/66 and realised 12/28/66.
Given when your dist was likely assembled (date not included above) you could have a combination of both or any combination IMHO. For example have AUTOLITE caps on very nice original cars built in Nov 66 so the dist assembly date would likely proceed that by a month or more.As far as the lead it would be expected (for a car of it's production period) that the flat round eyelet style end was used at the coil.Booted ends can be found on other applications and on big blocks late in the year based on examples Others may have found differently or examples. Only providing what I've found and documented with pictures
My distributor date code is 6K31.
Thanks that would make it a very early example and the reason it may have either IMHO internals As for the cap it appears, based on what I could turn up, that if it did have an Autolite cap it would have bee the thin letter version. There is a reproduction of that cap available
Who makes the best thin letters Autolite cap please? Thanks Kyle.
Believe there is only one maker of that reproduction so you don't really have a choice other than who your going to purchase one from From an advertiser - Made by Daniel Carpenter: C7AZ-12106
