Burton Antique Auto Stainless

It appears Burton is selling two versions of their 67 Deluxe stainless for the dash area.

One includes a new instrument panel.
The other version is the bend-over tab version to apply to my instrument panel.

The version with a new instrument panel is a better deal.
However, I can't judge the quality of whatever panel they are using and the attachment method.

Has anyone seen or used the version with the new panel?
Or should I just have my original panel re-chromed and opt for the tab version like original?

At one point they had a glitch in production where they started making the dash panel the turn signal triangle openings too small and they did not fit around the raised edges of the cluster turn signal opening . I can only assume they got the situation resolved but I would double check with them that they did regardless of which way you go. Other then that glitch they have been the best repro out there IMO.

I've heard of that, Bob. It was a while back.

I think I'll get my instrument panel re-chromed. That way I know the instrument panel is original and that it fits the car.
I suspect Burton is using a repop chrome panel of some type. I'll just go with their bent-tab stainless and an original, re-chromed panel.

At this juncture a couple of hundred bucks is just noise.

Hi Bill,
I have had Vac-U-Metal re-chrome four or five instrument bezels for 67 Deluxe interior. My experience is they do really good work. I do not believe you will be happy with the SS inserts for your dash trim. I would get the brushed aluminum inserts from Burtons. They glue on instead of having the bend-over tabs but the pieces are very nice and close to original.

I think the applique panels go by many names. Depends on the guy or site. I've heard  it called stainless, brushed stainless, aluminum or brushed aluminum (which is what Ford calls it). I was referring to the Burton product and no other product.
What's confusing is that it's meant to mimic brushed stainless.

But your comment about it being a glued on product is confusing. Burton glues on the dash, center, above the glove box and to the right of the glove box to their tabbed backing, just like Ford did. I have to glue the heater piece, just like stock.

Burton says (on SKU C7ZZ-DBADASH-BPG):
"The set is 9 pieces total: 5 pieces of brushed aluminum metal (which have all been made from the same coil of metal - all pieces guaranteed to match!) and 4 pieces that are the bend-down lock tab backup plates, as only used on original Ford factory parts. 4 of the brushed pieces are glued to their corresponding bend-down lock tab backup plates; the last brushed piece is to be glued onto the heating/cooling plate by the buyer."

But my original question still stands. My original instrument panel has the rectangular tab holes. If I buy the SKU above I should get a tabbed aluminum piece that goes into the tabs on my original instrument panel.

But they offer another SKU that includes a new instrument panel and all of the other plastic. Is this the product (SKU C7ZZ-DXREP-DASH) to which you say it's glued on?
