Original, unpainted wiper motor on my April 1968 Dearborn built car.

Yes yours looks just like mine. Originally I was not going to paint it. Then I decided to paint, which I haven't yet, and now I am considering not painting it again. Just curious what you did with yours.

I have seen some 68 NJ ones unpainted as well.

So perhaps they are not as rare as originally thought. I wonder how many are left unpainted during restoration

For 65-66, the 1sp wiper motors were unpainted like the one in the pics.  2sp were black bottom.  Interestingly, the brackets the motors attach to are even different for 1sp/2sp for those years also.

What does SP mean?

I thought I had seen unpainted ones, when I checked my parts I found three unpainted ones. Two were very rusty but the one was very nice with the C7 number stamp clearly visible. I have no doubt that some were never painted.

Very interesting. Well that confirms that mine most likely was one that did not get painted.

Super Performance!

Ok, no. Speed.

I am not familiar with that term. Is that a 65-66 thing?

Early cars had single speed wipers. Or 1sp.

The following posts were separated from a Members build thread as the subject sort of took off and appeared to be a good stand alone topic. So by placing it in the section it will be easier to find and viewable by members and non-members alike. Enjoy

Now that we've moved off of the focus of the original post where it focused on just the particular 68 San Jose build fastback I would like to offer some additional examples so that no one goes away forgetting about the wiper motors that had main bodies painted black

Great photos Jeff especially the last one as it looks like it has tilt-a-way. I am looking for detailed under dash photos to assist me with my underdash install

No the last two pictures are from the same car and its not a factory or presently a tilt car.

Will see what I've got as far as decent under dash pictures and start a thread.  As you already figured out some of the details will differ depending on options like tilt, AC and so on.
