Topic: 70 Bonnet/Hood Question

Hi Guys,
I purchased an original shaker

Put my original bonnet aside for safe keeping
Bought an aftermarket bonnet.

Was very disspointed of fitting , flimsy and china crap (usual). Long story short it was also damaged which I did not notice under full light.

As I went to my reseller to purchase hood brackets (as I take it the original are over 50 yrs and most likly warned out
)
I mentioned to the store owner of my dissapointment of slight damage , flimsy aftermarket bonnet from his competitor.

the store manager made me aware of a 2nd hand 69 bonnet for $200 and without real though - purchased it as I would imagine - it has to be better than the chinese crap? Right?

Question is - Will a 69 be suitable to a 70?

was hoping to do cutouts for this for shaker etc etc rather my original (incase I sell the car and new owner wants it conourse etc)


Any help would be appreciated?

I am hoping this can be installed? I am aware of subtle difference but hoping this exercise will do the trick?

From the context and focus on this site/forum the answer would be no since they are different


69 hoods in my experience, are more difficult to find ($200 is pretty cheap unless there are issues) and the service replacements were designed to look more like 70's so more of that style made

+1 on difficult to find good 69 hoods.  As Speegle states they are different.  You could probably sell a good uncut/undamaged 69 hood and fund a good 70 hood with no problems.  Just time maybe.  $200 for a good 69 is a steal.  In my opinion I would not cut it up or use it.  But it's your hood obviously.  There are service replacement 70s out there if you have patience.
