oil dip stick tube c6az-6754-a
« on: August 05, 2021, 04:52:45 PM »
Bummer - my 67 289 dip stick tube busted.  Looks to be part number c6az-6754-a.  I can hit up the junkyard, should have 20-30 to pick from, and will probably give that a solid attempt.  However, if all else fails how good are the repros?

Good . Have fun getting the tube out undamaged. Typically tedious and can be hard to do. Best of luck.

Understood.  Since I see people looking for timing chain covers, maybe I'll go all the way and grab those, then I can get the tube out in a shop environment.

Easy to pull with the oil pan off.
Insert a 5/16" bolt inside the tube (inside the oil pan) and tap it out.

A for sale timing cover WITHOUT a dipstick is nothing out of the ordinary so selling the cover should not be a issue.

FYI the Scott Drake repro had an O.D. of 0.380 whereas the original is 0.375.  Ridiculous.

Doesn't that paint come in a shrink tube?
