seat hinge cover inner
« on: July 13, 2021, 05:43:01 PM »
Per the assembly manual the screw used for attaching the inner hinge cover was a pan head screw with chrome finish. In my 65 one side has a pan head screw but it has a black finish (my interior is black) the other side has a chrome screw but it is not a pan head. It it the same screw that attached the outer hinge trim cover.  Is either correct?  Would all cars have had a chrome screw not matter what the interior color was?

What is the Ford hardware part number you are referring to?

part # 51765
That is an incomplete part number. The full, correct part number number is 51765-S13, the -S13 being the Ford finish code. It is 10-24 X 1/2 inch long pan head screw (Phillips drive). The -S13 signifies a chrome plated finish. The screw you are concerned about has an incorrect finish. This screw was used on Mustangs from 1964 thru 1967. In 1968, Ford used a -S9 finish, bright zinc plated. AMK sells the correct size, but only has -S8 finish (zinc plated) available (and -S2, phosphate).

+1 on chrome finish.  The tip of the screw will be blunt/flat so that it doesn't catch on the vinyl seat cover.
