Topic: 64.5 AC compressor pulley color

My unit came back after rebuild with the compressor pulley almost an argent silver.
When I sent it off it was impossible to spot the original color.
Reference pictures have been inconsistent.
Can someone point me to the proper color and finish please?

Normally black.  Is there any mention in the Mannel book?

Mannel did not seem to address this directly, but all the B&W photos are just that. None looked silver for sure but the pulley could be more of a flat grey as per attachment?

nope. just semi-gloss black but a different paint than the compressor.

Of course that picture is of some ones effort in restoring. For me I'm somewhat surprised to see a York pump being used

IMHO not a good guide on how to build your car

Agree that the black would be different in gloss and application since it would have been painted at a different place and likely paint product than the compressor

The compressors were typically shinier in sheen then the paint on the compressor clutch .

Thanks all. I had searched the Unrestored Thread but did not see an early car with A/C. The York body did come back black with more gloss than the block paint I have used. I will find a flatter black for the pulley
