Simple answer?
« on: June 23, 2021, 03:05:46 AM »
On this clock, it had no original Knob in place, it made it simple to take apart and put in a new clock mechanism.  I bought a new Scott Drake knob and set screw. Well once installed the knob just slides on and off. Is it missing something?  Is this knob junk?  I looked and found no threads on the subject. Thanks for any help!

There should be threads at the end of the shaft and a special screw holds the knob on. I can not tell for sure but it looks like the screw may be on the shaft.

I put the knob on the shaft and screwed the set screw down and the knob just slid right off, like there is something missing.

Nothing is missing, must be another bad reproduction part. The screw should not be able to slide through the knob.

I just bought an original knob off Ebay, we'll see how that goes.

I would ask the source of where you bought this knob about why it does not work - strongly.

Armond, I had the same problem with mine.
I pulled out and held the rod (with padded angled needle nose pliers)  then installed the knob and set screw. tightened right up.
