Topic: 68 seat belts

I have two late build date 68s one from Dearborn and one form SJ, both are red on red cars interestingly they both came with black seat belts. Both cars have standard belts. I have seen other 68s that had red belts. I am not sure if the red only came with the deluxe belts or what? Marty

Believe either way would be correct.  I've also seen black belts used where you would think colored would have been.

I probably will stick with the black since it came that way. I would like to know why Ford used black and when and why they used the interior color?  My best guess is if they were short the color they put in black to keep the car going down the line. Marty

I'm curious what the belt dates are compared to you build date. Belt date for instance  68 - 25 (week)?

The Dearborn build date of the 68 fastback is 7-12-68 the belt date was 27 68
The SJ  build date of the High Country Special is 7-16-68 and the belt date is 25 68
I am not sure if the first number is the week? Marty

Marty, your fastback and my vert were built on the same date in Dearborn. I believe mine was 3 days ahead of schedule.
