Autolite Battery for a 67 390
« on: June 15, 2021, 03:49:27 PM »
Hello to All, I'm new to the site and any help would be appreciated. Can someone tell me how I can get a new autolite battery for a 67 390gt fastback? Jegs used to have a good one, but the quality is poor now. Top is not Autolite Red, lettering in Black. Thank you!

Not aware that there has ever been a commerically available reproduction ever so your left with trying to find an expensive original or if showing trying to purchase a latter incorrect version and possibly giving away a few points for the incorrect details.

IF you've read all the threads on the subject on the site or just a few you will notice that the supply of the later versions has been difficult for a few years. An option might be to place wanted ads out there to see if someone purchased a reproduction and just put it on the shelf unused

Thank you Jeff, that was helpful.  I actually have one that I purchased a year ago for my 66 from a company that was making repos of ford and mopars.  Excellent quality and details! They seem to have gone out of business, shame. The batteries on ebay are 2k and up, crazy!

The one you purchased was likely the 68 and up version. In the threads above you will see how different those are from a 66 or 67 original battery.

Yes when things get difficult to find prices go up even for some parts that are no longer reproduced or that were better reproduction than currently available.

Good luck with your search
