Topic: Steering column bearing install

Just wrapping up my 1970 steering column rebuild. I am at the point where I am about to install the upper bearing and then the new turn signal wiring harness. However, there is an etched portion of the shaft, just above the lower C clip that looks like it should be where the upper bearing is put in place. It will not easily slide down onto this area and it seems as though a socket of the bearing race size would be needed to knock it into position.? I honestly can't remember how I took the column out as it's been a few months. I believe I used a soft brass hammer to drive the shaft down into the column which freed the bearing? My question is does the bearing go between the lower C clip and the upper snap ring on the column shaft??

And to add, the internal measurement of the old and new bearing match, .73 inches.

The answer to your question is a definite Yes
This bearing should not require very much pressure to slide into that area on the shaft.
Most of the time pressing the bearing with your fingers will be the only effort required.
