LOL it's a little sad isn't it. Mis - spelled words, white - out, and a "dealer installed" HP 289 on the (supposedly) original window sticker? You would think with this many problems they would be embarrassed to display it.

In addition... to the spelling errors

Hmmm, I am not really good at math, but I don't get that total from those numbers?

I get $ 4021.12

Invoices usually don't have math errors!

I believe window stickers were done at Ford were they not? How would the factory know what the dealership was going to do (swap an engine) with the car after it was built and delivered ? Why wouldn't you just order a 289hp?

Most window stickers look like they were a carbon copy, eg blurred type. I've seen dealer options added on window stickers in first generation type, usually misaligned, and an occasional correction in pen. This one is childish.

Arlington, WA is not that far from here.
I could find no reference to a Ford dealer there. Arlington was a very small town back then. Marysville, which is very close, would have a Ford dealer.
And, Olympic Ave is not a complete street address. There would be a number before or after it like "104 Olympic Ave."

There is so much wrong this.

Yep someone who drug out mom's old type writer.  Yes love the "Dealer Installed note"   ::)

Also they forgot to type in the transportation charges ;)

Just for comparison for members

Also noticed they included a zip code with the dealer address, something not seen on other early window stickers.

Got called the 'document police' for pointing it out, lol.

"Document Police" or "Shelby Police"

Are terms used by people who have lost all credibility .

I would propose that possibly the dealership typed this up when they sold the car.  Obviously not factory original, but I would think it could be from the original sale.  My father was the bookkeeper for a very small town Ford dealership back in the early '70s and I hung out there a lot as a child.  I could certainly see this being created in order to make a sell if the customer requested it.

Here's a 65 sticker and dealers' invoice. Did dealers have blanks?
(Note: no Zip codes.)

I noted in Bob Coates Ford they used the term "Calif" rather than CA. The two alpha character system wasn't in place that long so I can see some of the old guard still using the old system. Neither were zip codes.
In our case it was "Wash." and this term was also used on 63-64 license plates.

I still have my parents old trunk which had "Seattle 66 Washington" on it!

I had forgotten about that "coding". It preceded the ZIP code system, and was mostly for large cities. I don't know what they called it or how it was determined.

Guess the question would be if a dealer installed option for a specific buyer would need to be on a window sticker in 66. Why not just cover it in the final sales document like they would undercoating and other items? This also requires viewers to believe that a dealer did an engine swap before they had a buyer that also reduced the factory warranty ALLOT and would create possible service issues going forward if there was an engine problem, rather than just order the same car with the K code engine. Seems to suggest allot of extra work for and more costly for the buyer who could just order or find what they wanted for less dollars

Price also suggest no cost for swapping the engine and the upgrade from 2V 289 to 4V (with associated costs) is not included or credited in the paperwork in question

In later years dealers were required to post an additional paper sticker on the same window showing cost of added dealer options and accessories

I missed the comas.
Seattle, 66, Washington

They were postal codes. No idea who set them up.
Later replaced by ZIP or Zone Improvement Plan. Later  ZIP + 4.
