Your best bet would be take an unrestored part, maybe the back side of a headlight bucket, or a chip from under the windshield molding (pinch weld area) to see if they can color match. Probably your best bet with what you are explaining.
And it looks like they did change Vintage Burgundy between 65 and 66, two different codes. Nothing is easy..
