Hardware stores use to carry acorn nuts but have not checked that resource in a number of years

Thanks guys ! Brian those look like they are close  I will order some and the clips to .I didnt think to check hardware store.  Btw  the strip on front of hood that is riveted on was that assembled after care was painted? Mine was panted  over in a repaint so im guessing they were added after  car was opainted or were they on car when it was painted? Mark

The semi-gloss black bracket was attached using 1/8" pop rivets AFTER the car was painted.

Close? The stud is a size 8, the replacement, AMK B-12943 is a 10-24. Sure, it will fit - very loose.
See if AMK has their Hood Molding Kit, F-142 in stock. It does not show up on their web side, but is in their paper catalog. It's appears to be the correct one, and includes the rivets.
(I'm "leery" about AMK kits as they don't list the the contents' part numbers.)

I found these with a little searching: https://www.topflightautomotive.com/products/corvette-america-1978-1982-chevrolet-corvette-seat-hinge-cover-acorn-nuts-12-piece/

The color looks wrong and there's no mention of the size, but they're the right style.

I did find some of those acorn nuts at a hardware store near me.     they were silver to .I would have to find the other half that goes inside of the moulding . I  was with wife at the time so that was taking up precious time lol  Only other thing would find  a nos hood molding that might have attaching parts with it. That would be pricey indeed. :-\Mark

The 70 Mustang Body Assembly Manual (AM0031 [pg 49) specifies 45277-S36 for the taillight panel. I assume that's what is in the AMK kit (my previous stand, you really don't know what you are getting in their kits). The hood molding is 384102-S100 (Same book, pg 25) but the two nuts are different. The only things that are the same is the thread, 8-32, and name, acorn nut. They will work, but -

Jim, Too bad AMK doesn't have hardware descriptions.  Unknown is when did each assembly plant run out of the 69 hood trim acorn nuts 45277-S36.  What is finish S100?
