Topic: 70 Mach1 Vin number

I came accross a 70 Mach1 equipped with a H code engine and when we pulled the fenders the stamped Vin read,  0F114319 with a star on each end sort of like a Vin stamping on a engine block is this typical ?

Yup, very typical of Dearborn production. All of my DB cars are stamped that way.

Does that mean standard practice prior to 1970 was to do the entire vin on the aprons?

Yes. In three places, one hidden on the right hand side, another hidden on the left, both near the hood hinge, and the visible one on the left.

Yes it was typical practice to stamp the full VIN but not always stamped on "aprons" during 64-69. Depended on production period and plant
