Curious to know whether or not the grooves on the inner engine bay wall on this ebay motors 69 SCJ is correct. My personal 69 SCJ does not have this as it is smooth. My car was built in late 68. Any input is greatly appreciated. Keith

The reinforced panel appeared about the same time as the Boss 302 (late March-early April) if I recall correctly.

TOB, thank you for the reply. So the late 68 and early 69 mustangs would not of had this reinforced panel. Interesting.

TOB, you made my day! I actually have two 69 Mustangs that are not the reinforced panels. The one is 12-10-68 and the other is 3-20-69. I think it is safe to say the panels are original as well.

Interesting TOB. I visited with each of the gentlemen that actually restored the two cars and both said that they used the panels that were with the car originally.

Sorry, I meant 3-20-69.

Changed the title to represent the year and the plant your car was built at. change overs were possibly different for different car assembly plants. Also added the list item to the running change main threads (sticky on the main section page) so that we can focus and possibly narrow the change over for each plant. When doing so the date code from the panel will likely be very important as well as when the car was really finished

My later year 69 had the reinforced panel as well.  All great information!

Might be worth mentioning that this particular panel carries a date stamp as well as the vin stamp.  This one is dated 8 10 D3.  Brian

Believe you will find that not all or even the majority of them had the VIN stamped on that panel at San Jose that year. Would post examples but don't want to take the discussion off thread. If someone wants to start another will be happy to share but of course this would help owners as well as those that are trying to represent things/details that are not correct
