Topic: Wiper Pivot Arm Gaskets

I am replacing the Wiper Pivot Arm Gaskets on My 64.5 Mid July Dearborn Coupe.  I am using the leather gasket.  Are they to be used so they fit to the outside of the raised portion of the pivot "boss" or do they get trimmed to fit within the "boss"?

They fit inside, but the originals were maybe 1/4th of the size of the one in the pic.  There was also rope/strip caulk used along with the gasket.  Please don't use the stringy 3M stuff, find the correct rope caulk.  Discussions here previously on the subject.

I tried those and couldn?t make them work. Way too thick. I ended up using the rubber replacements and they worked fine.

When Windows 10 replaced my Windows 7 (and XP, and 97, etc), I continued the "spellcheck" feature. It's a feature to consider getting. (Grammar is another whole world.)

Strip chalk!? Somehow, that is a term that would have gotten me in trouble in school!  Okay, I read that thread, well the strip caulk one.  What I am curious about is how that relates to the wiper pivot gasket?  I assume it is used to seal it somehow but precisely where?  Between the gasket and the cowl or between the arm and the gasket at the hole, or other? This is one of those things I would rather not take apart again.

Just tried it in MS Word and all reported back it was good - no spelling or grammar issues   Now that Thesaurus  thing didn't like the word but that's another thing
