Neutral Safety Switch

Looking for a little help with a neutral safety switch for my 1967 GT500, #906. Sometime before I got the car, the switch was removed along with the wiring to it.  I have a new switch (Scott Drake) but am looking for a wiring harness to mate up to the switch.  Anyone know where to purchase one?  I see some for 65 and 66 Mustangs but nothing for a 1967.

I hope you have better luck with the Drake part than I did. I got two of them that were open on the start circuit. Bought an NOS Autolite part and it worked. The Drake part had a 1969 style connector on the 1968 (so they said) switch.

The main under dash harness is what the neutral switch plugs into.

Royce is correct.  64.5 to 66 years had separate NSS/BU harnesses, different for automagic and manual trannies.  The plug you are looking for will be found coming out of the firewall grommet where the engine gauge feed harness (oil, water, coil) attaches.

No one I am aware sells the short pig tail coming out of the firewall with the plugs that you are referring to . That section you will have to splice into your harness on the under dash side. If it were me I would find a donor harness to get the section from and splice it in . Many are in bad shape or wires are badly faded so be aware when making your selection. If you can't find one remind me (PM) after the first of 2021 and I will look . I try and keep old harness around for just such occasions.

Early 1967 is the same way - two separate plugs. Later in the model year (not sure when the change happened) Ford went to a single connector like '68. The 1969 connector is different, has sort of a weather seal thing which is what Drake sells as applicable for 1968 - 69.

WCCC sells both types. According to their website the change to a single connector happened December 1966. Their descriptions seem correct but both descriptions have the late style photo attached.

I am curious because my January 31, 1967 Dearborn has the two connectors (picture attached).

Well, Don's website states what the MPC states - but I also had a late January Dearborn built 1967 XR-7 that had the two separate connectors, AKA "early" style. Which ever type the OP wants, WCCC has it. If their website says out of stock you might have to call to get them to pull one for you.

Bob:I believe you're confusing the 3 pin engine gauge feed plug with the NSS/Backup 4 pin plug.  In 64.5-early 67, there were separate plugs for the NSS and the backup light plug.  The two plugs were then combined into a single 4 pin plug, which is electrically compatible with the 2 - 2 pin versions.

Randy : I think you have found my confusion. The plug on the right in the picture Royce posted is the result of combing the two plugs. The Engine gauge plug has nothing to do with the OP's question, other than the fact that it comes through the same grommet. Correct ?

This may be a jumper that Ford used sometimes?  Not sure of the plug end colors.

I've never seen that jumper either, and I've seen at least 200 examples of NSS/BU switch connectors over the past 13 years.  As Arte Johnson used to say..."Verrrry Interesting!"
