69-70 FE starter detailing

looking for pictures of a clean original / nos / or correctly restored C8AF-1101-A cobra jet starter motor  9C20C  date code. mine is now rebuilt and ready for detailing. sorry if it has been asked before but i just heard about this forum last night. thanks in advance for any help ...lee

First welcome to the site - hope you find the information and support here helpful in your concours related endeavors

Since this would be a stater with all the information (enginering, date and such) stamped into the metal main case not allot of detail to worry about. Painted semi-gloss black with a boot over the wire lug and base nut. Paint fades away at the attaching end so that it assures a decent grounding for operation. Make sure there is a heavy paper gasket between the band and main housing as shown in other threads

To add ,also it has square shaped opening in barrel case plug instead of Phillips,heavy gasket under the Bendix cover ,nose cone with no ribs (1970+ style has ribs ) . Although the ribs on the nose cone can't be seen when installed that style nose cone has a different design of band that can be seen when mounted which indicates it is a later style nose cone. While your at it confirm you have the correct bendix cover given there are several different styles used at different times pre 1966 and post 1970.
