66 Mustang K-code fastback
« on: January 25, 2011, 08:10:03 PM »
I have a friend that wants me to take a look at his 66 K-code fastback and he may want to restore it but do not know if it is worth it. He says that he thinks it is about a 6.5 out of a ten right now. Has most all of the original parts but the paint is not show quality but nice. Does anyone have any ideal what a K-code 66 Mustang Fastback like this would be worth? He may want to sell it like it is, just some ball park what they are bringing.
I told him that a full restoration could run 30,000.00 to 40,000.00 and it would not be worth doing. I think the car is about a 25,000.00 car now. When you get into doing one to concours judged standards it just gets out of hand. Some cars are not worth doing, I just do not know these cars.

Thanks, Keith

There's a lot of value in K codes, depending on if they are matching numbers cars.  A relatively original car with matching numbers drive train is definitely worth investing in.  Although, most any money invested (sensibly), would just add the same value back into the car.  In other words, a $25k car now with $35k invested would probably end up being a $50-60k car.
