As close as I have in my collection. Look allot like ones used in larger and later Ford products though not certain all have that same middle "arm" along the hinge edge

Thanks, I have one that has a textured black lid that I am not sure is correct. When I get back to my shop I will get a photo so maybe someone can identify it. It fits in the hole but looks different than yours.

Here are some photos from my parts stash. This one obviously needs some restoration.

These are found only in 1967 - 68 Mustangs and Cougars. I found a similar ash tray in a 1968 Thunderbird but the lid in the T - Bird ash tray is shiny rather than brush finish as found in the Mustang and Cougar.

The lids are chrome plated pot metal and they seem to invariably be pitted. The stamped steel inner ash tray is also chrome plated. They can usually be saved with careful use of steel wool and bead blasting the inside, then painting it matte aluminum.

Royce, these were not used on the 67 Mustang, those are quite different.

I thought the deluxe Mustang console in 67 - 68 used the same ash tray as '67 - 68 Cougar XR-7? This one is missing the lid and the stamped steel ash tray:

67 Mustangs did not have the padding. So the ashtray was larger and situated into the plastic main body similar to the 65-66 design

OK I did not know that. So the sources for a correct ash tray for the OP would be 1967 XR-7 Cougar, 1968 XR-7 Cougar, or 1968 Mustang.
