1970 boss 302 Metuchen radiator cap question
« on: July 28, 2020, 01:00:43 AM »
Does the assembly line radiator cap for a 1970 boss 302 built in Metuchen have a brass rivet or a chrome plated rivet.  I'm sending one to Tim in North Dakota and he says it is supposed to be plated.  I need verifications that it's plated and not brass finish.

Thanks Dan in Kansas

Dan....the rivet would not be plated chrome.  The originals I have at my shop all look to be brass.

Marcus,

Thanks for being the sound of reason and confirming.  Apparently there is a dress up kit type cap out there listed that had the restoration guy questioning.  I assumed brass also but I'm a rookie and needed experts to chime in.

For calls SA, gentleman in North Dakota named Tim is restoring two caps for me.  He comes recommended.  I'll post pics when I get them back.

Marcus, any expertise on gas tank protector boards?  Dimensions, material, texture, color, any differences between car models or production plants etc...

Thanks Dan
