Bendix disc brake rotor

The Bendix brake rotor PN: PRT1019 for 1970-73 Mustangs appears to be at least a bit more similar to an original 1968 rotor than their 68/69 rotor PN: PRT1018.

Has anyone installed 1968/9 bearings & races in them for use in a 1968 or 1969 Mustang?

I think there is more to it then changing the races and bearings. Regardless no I have not but you could separate the rotor hat from the hub and most likely use the 70 rotor hat on the 68/69 hub from your old rotors.

The Bendix pictures appear to show the 68/69 rotor and hub assembly as a one piece style . The 1970 version appears to be a two piece style . If that is the case then you can separate the two . If a one piece style then you can't and are stuck.

The dimensions for both appear to be nearly identical.

FYI those dimensions do not have anything to do with the race or bearings. The spindle is beefeir on the 70-73 compared to the 68/69 .That is why one doesn't fit the other.  The easiest way to solve your problem is if the 70 rotor is two piece like original (looks like it but yet to be determined)in which case you can transfer the rotor hat to your 69/70 hubs. That is if you want the historic look of the two piece rotor. The least expensive way is of course to use the one piece rotor on your 69.

As a matter of fact, they do. The two published center hole diameters match the inner and outer bearing race OD's.

45.21mm is about 1.78 in. The standard 68/69 outer race OD is 1.781 in.

59.10 mm is about 2.33 in. The standard 68/69 inner race OD is 2.328 in.

I was addressing your observations of "The dimensions for both appear to be nearly identical" . The point is the rotor hat will interchange if it is a two piece unit but the hubs will not .That is why they are for two different applications. Is that clear enough? Next.

I didn't say anything about using the hat as a replacement.

Why would I go to all that effort if I can simply drive the later size races out and replace them with 1968/69 sized races?

Obviously the spindle OD's are different but that appears to be dealt with by using different sized inner and outer bearings.

Are there any other differences that would prevent interchanging them?
