Repairing door locks when flange breaks
« on: July 13, 2020, 08:07:42 PM »
I was preparing to touch up the paint and replace the door handle on my March 66 Dearborn built Hardtop driver door.  As I was trying to remove the clips for the rods between the latch and handle the door lock came out in pieces.
Is this repairable or shall i just get the best reproduction from NPD?

Doesn't look repairable to me.

Thanks Charles, do you have any insights on the reproductions?

Get a used one from a junk yard. You will still need to have a locksmith set the tumblers to your existing key.

I wouldn't use a repro.  Do as Jim suggested.  If your key cylinder is still together, you might be able to transfer the tumblers to another lock yourself.  If you can't find a used one, let me know, I have extras.

Get a set from WCCC of used originals including the door locks and ignition cylinder. That way you get an original key with the round hole too.
