64.5 D-Code 289 - C2SF-B carb?

Hi guys,

Was wondering if it's possible the factory dropped a 1.12 C2SF-B on a D-Code 289?

From what I found this is for a 58-64 390 and mostly for T-Bird.

Seems like to much carb for the D-Code 289, shouldn't id be a C4GF-AE/AF for an automatic car.

Your thoughts? Cheers

It's an owner modification from back in the day. There was an article in Hot Rod magazine back in the mid 1960's doing exactly that to a D code Mustang along with other modifications to make it quicker on the drag strip.

Unfortunately that means you have the wrong carburetor today.

For a low compression 289 (which is what a D code was), running a 600cfm carb with no other modifications probably wouldn't be a good choice.  If an aluminum intake/headers/cam and some head work were done, it might be better suited.

If it was me, I'd search for the correct 480cfm D code carb.

I agree with you Charles and I'm looking for a 1.08/480cfm, it's running rich with the 600cfm.

Looking for a C4GF-AE, but might take some time to find one.
