We have no idea what change you are asking about. What model year?

Guess (just confirming) your referring to the addition of the hole for the vent on the passenger rear area of the base. In an addition a metal tab was welded to the bottom to hold the attaching hose up out of the way.

If so documents suggest on or around mid Feb 1969 (17th date is listed) TSB info has often been more specific or correct IMHO than some other Ford publications though we could expect that different plants might be different by a day or two on some of these dates

428CJ site has some pictures posted over there.

Here is what the valve looks like that goes into the ram air cleaner.

All it takes is a hole and the valve to convert one base into the other. ;)

Nice part Bob!  I have never seen one of those NOS.  And I didn't realize the valve was thermostatic, even though my '69 SCJ car had one.

I think there are 3 variations of the air cleaner base.  Single "hump" underneath, dual "hump" and dual hump with this added valve and the welded on tab to retain the hose.

Did the Q code base go through the same change?

Jeff, it looks like we're both right in the way we described the TSB text (see attached). It's article number 1780 in TSB 114.

Bob,
Should the valve be painted or will be accepted as shown in your picture unpainted?

Thanks - corrected my earlier post. Over 30 years no one has noticed that. Guess, so that people can find these, they should be labeled by the TSB Article number

BTW where did you get that scan from? Its different in format from the TSB that I have, which is three columns full width of a 8 1/2 x 11 page. I cut and pasted to fit so I could post it here and still be fairly legible

I got it from a TSB Index PDF file that was downloaded from here: https://fordification.com/downloads/downloads.htm
