Topic: Heater hose routing on 68 GT500 A/C with smog

Just getting to the place to hook up the heater hoses and was wondering what the hose location would be on the motor.  If the water pump side hose stayed inside of the RH valve cover on the intake or if it wrapped around the outside of the RH valve cover between shock tower and valve cover? Again it would be nice to have an 68 engine assembly manual... Thanks again.

No heater hose should cross the valve cover on a GT500. There is a great photo of an unrestored '68 GT500at the bottom of this page on Pete Disher's outstanding website:

Yes it would be nice if the 68 engine assemblyine manual was reprinted. Unfortunately not. Good news though if you have all of the manuals for 68 available like it would be prudent to have then you already have the illustration for heater hose routing on A/C car.The heater hose routing is in the electrical manual.pg 77. It is a very early illustration with the W/P fitting like the 67 but hoses route the same.

On original cars I have found aluminum tie around both House is right around the number three cylinder on the inside of the valve tower

Very interesting. I’m assuming your talking about the two heater hoses that are laying on top of the intake? Is the aluminum strap around the two hoses, and if so was wondering why they would have done that?

Brass or aluminum straps were often used to hold heater hoses or vacuum lines together and make installation quicker for the workers.

Usage depended on year, options and car assembly plant
