Jan '68 San Jose RUG-M toploader markings
« on: June 29, 2020, 12:16:30 PM »
Wanted to post some markings I found on my 68 Cougar S code/wide ratio 4 speed transmission. Also posting the transmission tag and partial VIN stamp on the driver's side top of the case, where it bolts to the bell housing.

The markings done by hand are different in general on just about every top loader though there are similarities due to being applied by the same group of workers at the transmission plant.

As a note the paint markings you posted and have found so far would be the "same" (with variations mentioned in my first sentence) from plant to plant around that time since they were not applied at San Jose. There are others that would be car assembly line specific at at least San Jose

Hopefully your posting will help others
