67 turn signal retainer

In 67 (and possibly 68) there appear to be two different turn signal retainers.
The retainer is on the back side of the visible turn signal bucket.

Discuss please?

68 is solid tube version and 67 is the one with the cut out.

The 67 style was used in to the early 68s. But I do not know for how long. Our car was built 8-24-67. It has many 67 parts.

Maybe this is a 68 running change item? Or does using up excess inventory in the first few weeks of a new model year count?

Hi Jeff I was chatting with Bill about this originally and I was referring to a '68 Shelby I am helping restore some parts for, with these parts (First Photo). Car is a Canadian Car now, not sure if it was new. I was comparing my turn signal light assemblies to my car and wondered why the ones on the Shelby were different from mine. Trying to se if the owner has the Marty Report for it

Not that the Ford assemblyline illustrations are always 100% accurate but in this case one style is illustrated in the 67 manuals and the other style in the 68 manuals.

Yes that is the tag for the Shelby in question. Lots of things were changed on it over the years. I am trying to help get it back to correct in some areas. Unfortunately the owner does not care. For example the trunk was painted with spatter paint, not body color, lots of incorrect fasteners, snorkel air cleaner, non Shelby hood springs (chromed along with hinges, & upper hood latch) and the list goes on. The guy who is painting my car is painting the Shelby and anything I can do to help correct it is worth doing imo. I know even less about 1968 Shelby's than I do about 1968 Mustangs

Thanks Bob who knows why they would have been changed, but looks like several parts were changed over the course of the last 50 years, much like my car
