Oz390/AKA dalorzof I also testify to the extensive research you've done on 65-68 vert tops. Your lime gold 68 is hands down beeeeutiful!

Slim I see you are in my region. Are you near Milwaukee? I would like to possibly have a  look at your 68 vert top frame. Oz and have been conversing quite a bit the last few days.

To Oz 390. Saw a newscast on flooding in Brisbane and thought of you. Hoping that all is OK with you and yours.

After disassembling the frame noticed that the header is pretty corroded. Its either a pot metal or potentially magnesium. Not sure. Oz mentioned it's
Pretty normal to have to do some reconstruction with filler. Im concerned with it popping in the future. Thought about using either JB weld or this plumbers epoxy clay vie used before to repair steel tubs. Any suggestions or recommendations? I would prefer to just get a nice one and just replace it. If anyone knows someone who has a trashed 67 or 68 vert top I only need the header to be salvageable.

The header you describe is probably the condition of a large percentage of other ones out there.  They can be repaired with something like all-metal.  Most trim shops will just put tape over the pitting and then maybe a piece of foam headliner material to smooth it over.

Isn't all metal like bondo with metal fillings? Silver appearance in the can.

Yep, that's exactly what it is.

Had some 20 years ago. I presume it's still available?

So caspian am I to believe that I may as well work with what I have as most that are out there have the same type of corrosion as mine does or some level of damage.

I'd suggest blasting it first to clean out all the corrosion.  So long as there is no damage to attaching areas, you can probably work with it.

Would also suggest to anyone restoring a top to heli-coil the taps for the latch truss head screws... commonly worn and sloppy, and an easy fix....
