Topic: Heater hose with A/C Routing

I'm curious how the heater hose is routed from the passenger side heater core outlet (green circle).
Judging by the shop manual the top (red circle) is where the molded "S" hose is connected that goes to the water valve.

My question is this. Does the non-molded hose lay up over the valve cover and run parallel with the other hose?
It looks like it would be tough to bend the hose behind the valve cover since it appears the other hose isn't molded on this end......

The long one piece heater hose has a molded end. There are reproduction hose sets with the proper hose for your A/C equiped car.try NPD not CJ

You may have to trim some of the molded end but that should work . Looks like enough to do both given the other side has the molded s shaped hose and the heater hose valve leaving a shorter distance to the intake fitting.

Others watching should notice that you choose, so far, to not replicate all of the factory details and to do their homework and own choices in their project.

You are correct. I didn't use sealer on the firewall. The water valve is also a replacement piece and has the plastic base instead of the factory brass.
I'm sure there are other things that might not be 100% correct.

Functional yes but the one heater hose is not ideally routed factory or otherwise.Typically the hose without the valve (to waterpump)had the molded elbow trimmed back so that the radius was closer to the firewall and closer to the back side of the head following a similar path as the other heater hose with the valve. All of the holes ,nuts ,wire harness etc. were sealed at the firewall so water, fumes ,noise etc. would not go into the passenger compartment.  It seems you have made the choice of not sealing the firewall like the factory did given the engine is in ,however at the very least the empty holes of the non A/C heater hose or any other opening needs to be plugged in some way otherwise expect problems. FYI the factory sprayed sealer over the plugs also .  Also remember when you install the expansion valve to wrap with the sticky insulation tape ( typically done before engine install  )otherwise the A/C will not work right . I only mention these because it is evident that you are going for a historical detail look. If you don't care about these details then excuse the distraction and disregard.

Thanks for the catch! I put the hose in backwards....and cut it.... Oooops! Ordered another set. Hopefully try number two will go better

OK, have another set of hoses to install. I've cut the 90 degree elbow as short as possible. (using my ruined hose to make sure I get this right)
For the life of me I still can't see a good way to route the hose behind the head. The Transmission dipstick is in the way.
Trying to route it behind the head (Green Circle) has the hose almost kinked at the elbow and interfering with the dipstick.
Routing it the other way (Red Circle) puts the hose over the valve cover.

Sorry for kicking this dead horse to death. Am I still missing something here?

Typically the hose is not kinked because of the formed rubber end. Yes it is typically somewhat in the way of the auto dipstick and you have to push the hose away with your hand for a better access. Although not ideal that is the typical way I have always found them on unrestored cars. Of course you can do it anyway you want .Someone may mention it and then again may not. Draped over the valve cover would be a viable next best alternative for instance. Don't shoot the messenger comes to mind.
