Axle Housing Date Stamp?
« on: May 18, 2020, 09:48:19 PM »
Found this stamp on my axle housing when I was cleaning it up the other day.  I know they weren't stamped with the VIN, but could this be a Date stamp?

Located on the front of the tube on the passenger side:  2F

Possibly June 2nd?  Or "Week 2 of June"?

Well at least now you have some "feeler" threads posted around the web to catch others attention and hopefully this will pay off over time

Popped in to West Coast Classic Cougars last week to pick up some parts.  Took a look through their axle piles while I was there.  Found a few stamped housings, but not sure exactly what they came out of.  Thought I would share the findings though.  I also included pics of the housings themselves because you knowledgeable folks will probably be able to glean some info from them.

This first one looks like maybe a "2H"

Definite 3J on this housing.  Center section was date 1K21, although I don't know whether or not it is original to the housing.

Thanks for sharing your findings so far Mike

Sure others will keep an eye out for the stampings in the future

BTW - you mentioned Passenger side tube on the first post. Have all the others been in the same location?

This one looks like another 2H to me.

I found the stamping on my housing as I was recently sanding it for primer. Mine as a '2' plus either an 'H' of an 'F'. The '2' is less pronounced at the bottom and the second character has a vertical leg like an 'H' of 'F' and the cross leg.
