C6 vacuum modulator line location
« on: May 18, 2020, 05:06:58 PM »
I am trying to install my aftermarket transmission lines. I am wondering if the back modulator line clip is in the correct location. I believe it was installed as pictured when I pulled the car apart. Dead Nuts On shows it located where the red circle is. Which one is correct?

It also appears the line I bought isn't even close to correct. Does anyone make a correctly bent/sized line??

I have not seen it located where the red circle is. I am having a hard time picturing how it would be oriented in the forward circled hole or what fastener would be used there. I have not seen it where you you say it was when you pulled the car apart. I have seen it instead attached to the bolt directly above the one in your before picture. Part of the problem is the line you have doesn't look right. It has been awhile since I have had to buy a C6 mod line. I have heard how many are not bent correctly and have to be drastically tweaked.

Have seen some owners route it under the ear on the passenger side. Sure seems a tight turn to get it to route to the attaching clip. Tese were cars that had been redone

Here is an original example routed over the ear

And one from a later C6. May not relate or may support a pattern

Ran across this pic as well. It seems to look a lot like my (believed to be) original line.
West Coast Classic Cougar has a line that appears to look a lot like this. I went ahead and purchased it since I had other things to get form there anyway.
Will post a pic of the WCCC line when I get it.

Bought another line from WCCC. Took very little tweaking and she line right up like my original. Figured I'd post a couple pics for anyone looking in the future!

That looks correct to me. The OEM rubber hose is a molded 90 degree piece.

I have the clips from Browns auto body as well as the line in the picture but the rear clip I have looks like it's set up to be mounted on the upper bolt. Does anyone know where I can get the rear clip pictured?

I have the clips from Browns. The one on the right isn't the same as the above picture. This one looks like it goes on the upper bolt.

I have the one on the right sitting on my desk, except it does not have the small right angle "tab". I wondered where it went. The 1969 Mustang Chassis Assembly Manual says it's supplied as part of the transmission subassembly, so off to Ford Car Parts (aka MPC) to see what I can see.

The big difference is that the one from Browns will hold the vacuum line horizontally. The one mounted on the transmission in the above picture holds the line in a vertical position.
