WTB: 65 driver side standard 289 valve/rocker cover
« on: May 07, 2020, 11:54:30 AM »
Looking for a LH side valve cover for a '65 289.  The '65 version does not have notches for smog tubes along the bottom edge.  Can trade for one if notches?

Will buy a pair if needed.  Prefer non-rusty/non-damaged.

Charles I have a pair here in, stay at home, San Diego.  Both do have some rust, passenger side couple small dents at the rear and the drivers side is dent free.  Never seen the smog tubes ?  Can send pictures.  Brian

You even learn things in the WTB section!

I had to look up 'T/E notches' and found it in Mannel's book on page 6F2-b.

How about that!

I looked as well Charles. I have a pair I am going to be using as masks when I repaint the engine but the passenger side is 65 and the driver is 66

We have the same then, I've also been using a pair like that for masks, but now need a pair of 65's!

Hey Charles. I was looking  around and found a pair of non-notched 65 valve covers. However, these were the over-the-counter chromed versions. Not sure if that would be any use to you? I imagine you would be stripping the chrome to make it work?
