Topic: bumper guards fitting

I decided to replace my rear bumper guards last weekend. Could you please tell me if the fitting is OK like this? Has the upper end to move closer to the bumper?

no, no rubber parts on it. They are from Scott Drake.

Are they repro bumper guards?  Some pics of original paint cars below.

The bumper is in on the upper RH side, which could affect the fit a little.

Also, FYI... it looks like your backup lamps need to be swapped side to side.  There is a LH and RH.  (Maybe just the angle of your pic?)

Thanks Chris and Charles for your input. Obvisously I forgot to order the cushion kit.
the bumper guards are repro, but the bumper itself is an original service part from Ford.
Accoring to pics from Charles, the guards have to get much closer to the bumper and rear valance.

This is one of those items you might want to consider NOS or having originals re-chromed.  I've had mixed results with repro bumper guards and it's just easier to go OEM than to have to deal with the headache of making repro fit.

The AMK J-clips with the rubber don't help the situation as the rubber is thicker/harder than original.

my previous bumper guards are attached. I am not sure if they are OEM. I don't see a stamping / part number. Difference is the end, which are more round towards the bumper. What do you think? Is this another 64 1/2 / 65 difference or just an older repro?

I can't tell from the pics, maybe someone has some originals or NOS ones to show.

Based on how they rusted, I would be inclined to say they are probably repro also.

I just went through this a couple of weeks ago. New rear bumper from NPD and bumper guards from Scott Drake. It was a bit of an ordeal to get them to fit together. I don't believe the bumper or bumper guards I removed were original as they didn't have part numbers on them. I was able to tuck the bumper guards a little closer to the bumper in my images than I see in yours. I did use the Scott Drake rubber bumper pads in the new bumper guards - the new pads are about twice as thick as the ones I removed with the old bumper guards.
