'66 Standard Wheel Covers
« on: December 25, 2010, 09:24:13 PM »
Has anyone successfully repainted the two tone gray on a set of factory '66 wheel covers?  What colors did you use?  How did they turn out?  Other comments? TIA  ;)

Gary, I think the colors are Ford Argent and Charcoal.  The charcoal is the same as the paint used on '65-67 Styled Steel Wheels.  Both paints should be available from NPD.
Too much junk, too little time.

a tip...don't forget to leave the soft edge around the paint.

Thanks guys. :D

Not meaning to hijack Gary's thread, but I'm refinishing my 65 beehive hubcaps and need to touch up some of the flat black areas.  What is the best way to get a soft edge around the black paint?

Back-tape or using some of the 3M jamb foam will get you a soft edge.

I've got the paint done and just an FYI, the Charcoal wheel paint from NPD is too dark for this application.  I ended using an SEM product-Medium Titanium Metallic #39253.  Spot on match for the darker gray.  It has the correct sheen also.
