69 Running Changes Main Thread - Metuchen Findings
« on: April 13, 2020, 05:51:31 PM »
Since we have running changes stickies for other years I figured we need to at least start a thread covering 69 running changes since some have popped up in the past and I'm sure there are plenty more.

Will continue to add suggestions for individual running changes here in this thread while will be the basis for related link threads focused on each individual subject. Remember to keep these 69 NJ focused here please not for cars and findings from other plants or years. We can cover those elsewhere. but of course many of these changes too place at the other plants they the change over period may have been different - the reason for keeping them all separate.

To keep the thread from getting too long or out of hand please don't post that you found this version or that on car 9T01T1254xx (for example). We can save that for the research period and for the individual running change threads as we have for other years so far. Just trying to identify the features during this first effort. Will break out the findings by plant of course.  Hope we can work through other plants also. Since this is likely to get to be a very long list I think that unlike the 66 version I will break the lists out by general area of the car to keep it a little more organized. We'll see how that works.

If you post suggestions for items to be included I will delete your posting after it has been incorporated rather than let the add to post run on for pages ;)

DRIVETRAIN-

Engines-

DE1- Belt and pulley changes on small and big block applications built after Oct 10 1968 - According to a TSB Article

DE2- 428CJ Valve Cover Style  - Change from early chrome plated sheet metal valve covers to cast aluminum. Since all engines were were produced and valve covers installed at that time
the change over at the engine plant would be the same for all plants. MPCs show the change as taking place after 2/14/69 and if this is the date it changed at the engine plant IMHO its likely
pretty correct date. Might be interesting to see when those were installed at each plant. Will likely have one thread about the engine plant date and see where this leads

I have an early production 1969 fastback that has what I believe is a trunk catch from a 1968. Maybe left over inventory that was used until it was depleted.

Power steering Pitman Arm. I have an early built car with a C7ZA-3590-C part number and I have several later built cars with a C9ZA-3590-A part number. The pitman arms appear to be exactly the same other than the part numbers.
