Are the 68 Convert rear brake cables the same as the 67 cables you can get from inline? Equal length?  Thanks!

1968 has a long and a short cable. 1967 has two equal length cables.

This 68 convert shelby I am working on has two short cables and look the same as the 67 style.  So did the all 68 converts have short?  These need to be replaced and I am wondering if anyone has used the 67's.

Regardless of model each respective year has the same cables. 1967 was identical length, 68 two different.

Armond all 1968 Shelbys used the same type of ebrake cable. You should have one side that is short and one longer. You will also likely need to change the color of the fittings. I have also found end balls to be oversized on some reproductions.

I would rather not replace the cables but the rubber is all cracked, so when I was researching to find the best replacement cables out there available, I found the long/short cables listed as correct when this car has the two equal cables. Here are some pictures I have taken.  Thank you for your input!

Armond -- there is a thread out there about how to replace those cracked rubber sleeves.
Bullitt68 was the last user who tried this in a recent post.

I used very fine glass ball (not that HF broken up glass) media on my cables and they look very good. Better details than the repops.

I'll post a pic later (perhaps in my build thread).

If you elect to restore the cables the rubber seals are available from AMK.

Yeah, the big ones. The small ones, not that I've found.
I have one off and want to cast it out of black silicone so it can stretch over the ball.

The fine glass bead works well on non-rust-belt cars usually. Getting it all out of the cable not so much. Fry's Electronics also offers many sizes of shrink tube which is another option for the cracked rubber insulator.

Hi Armond I just restored my cables as per BossBills advice and they turned out pretty good I think. The Latex tube works great. Good luck! They were in pretty rough shape to begin with
