1966 Manual Steering Ilder arm bushing
« on: April 02, 2020, 02:15:56 PM »
NOTE: This original post was split from another thread focused on 66 GT350 idler arm bushings

I am a little confused.

66 Metchen built (March 26) K Code with manual steering. Idler arm bracket-two green stripes, idler arm-robin egg blue daub, bushing has teeth on inner sleeve and otter sleeve has the step and visually looks exactly like PS bushing. Idler arm has 1.270" diameter hole for bushing.

MPC shows different PN for PS and MS. MS PN C5ZZ 3356A (from memory) and if I remember correctly the MPC doesn't show entry for GT350 bushing but comments here seem to indicate use a PS bushing.

Vendors show different bushings for MS and PS. The PS bushings shown have a step and MS does not.

What is correct bushing for a 66 MS Kcode?

Thank you.

To comment about the GT 350 info, I have the Shelby pitman and idler arm combo (they were NOS) on my 66' 350 clone. I recently replaced the bushing with a PS bushing from VA mustang (stated as a replacement for the GT350 idler). Worked like a charm and no issues. Looked/fit the same as the one I replaced.
