Tape seal side windshield moldings? 64 1/2 Convert
« on: March 17, 2020, 02:17:29 PM »
Osborn Body Manual p17 calls for ESB-M4G32A .06 x .75 Sealer tape over the side windshield molding- to A pillar.
Not finding anything obvious from my usual suppliers (VCM, NPD), I assume some generic substitution is being done.

Black Gorilla tape looks to have too much sheen.
What are y'all using?

What I found on both my 66 San Jose Mustangs is that the original tape is a flat dark gray on both sides. Gaffers' tape is dark gray on the top, the sticky side is white. Just a heads up.
AMK has a "masking tape", B-11665, a 2 inch wide roll, that looks good, but I've not opened the original bag to check.

What area are is being referred to?  Having a hard time remembering any cloth tape on convertible A-pillars.

Between windshield side molding and upper door molding here. This is where I am seeing it called out in Osborn Body

Thanks all I have since sourced the 913-4 black tape via NPD.
Also I note that the bottom of the replacement upper molding has a metal tab extension with a hole in it.
The convertible does not have the extra hole in the A pillar/door pillar so I guess I will extract that before mounting.

On your early car, the only thing used there was rope caulk.  Later used a foam seal.

Your car shouldn't have the tab with a screw.  Remove the tab from the rubber.
