1968 San Jose GT Coil Spring Perch
« on: March 06, 2020, 03:51:55 AM »
On the subject of coil springs here are a set of spring perches I found. However to my surprise they are different. I checked the great article on front suspension by Marcus Anghel and confirmed that I have a 65/66 perch and a 67/68 perch. If anyone has a later style that they would like to trade for an earlier one please let me know.

Thanks

Actually for those reading the change over happened in later 67 production.

Thanks Bob. Were there ever examples of both versions on the same car.

I have not seen or heard of any like that on a 67 let alone a 68.

Thanks Bob. Looks like I am looking for a single perch then. Hopefully someone has an odd one as well they would part with or I will need to find a pair

Just checking if these spring perch bushings are original. The seller says they are but I wanted to check and see if they are or not. He also says that there is no need to change the bushings. I am not sure of the condition of the bushings are in the perches and if they should be changed or not, but if they should be changed these could be potential replacements if correct. Also just confirming if the correct bolt is fine thread or coarse as I have both versions.

Thanks

I will dig them out tomorrow and have a look.I have never collected 65/66 parts and have only ever owned one car.67/68's are a different story.I know the ones in my 67 are correct as well....

The ones in my 67 will be the 68 ones as the complete front suspension from the 68 is now in the 67.

I have 5.All the same as the picture you posted...None appear to have any stampings on them(although they are not 100% cleaned). Also your pic shows the bushing to have four little tabs on it.Possibly anti rotation tabs..None of mine have those. Some of mine are incomplete as I was planning on making free floating bushings for them..Mine also have fine thread bolts....Quite possible mine are all service parts...

Don't know what you have however early spring perches have fine threads and the bushings do not have the crimped tabs. All of the Ford service perches typically have the tabs and course threads. At least the ones made after 1967 typically do.Quite possible yours are all 65-67 early parts
