Fuel Filter Spring
« on: January 27, 2020, 05:31:00 PM »
Would there have been a spring with the fuel filter inside the canister or was there only the filter in a late (August) 1965 engine? 289 V8 2V.

In this instance the fuel filter did not need a spring. The filter was held in place by a interference fit rubber O ring/gasket made into filter . Also the flow of fuel through the filter and up through the O ring /gasket opening of the filter would also help hold it in place vs. the opposite.

I found a spring in a fuel pump I got from a guy. Had the original white with lettering canister.  Thought maybe it was a fluke.

I also have found a spring inside the original white with red lettering canister. I attained the fuel pump from a collapsing body/mechanic shop/barn. The fuel pump however is a Carter X 3734S fuel pump dated October of 63. Not sure if this helps at all
