In checking out my main harness I found a C5ZB-13B712A attached to it. This is the wiring for a console. This car does not have a console. Would Ford have included this wiring when the car was built if no console was installed? Or should this car have come with a console originally? My data plate code is 76A which is standard interior.

Ford was not in the habit of wasting money but a mistake could have happened and removing it and returning it to the bin would have likely cost time another thing not to be wasted on the line. Easy to figure out if the car has had a console in the past (console mounting edge holes or forward bracket holes)  but you can't be certain of how it was originally built unless you have a real order form or sales peperwork

Interior package or body type have no bearing on the option

If you have a build tag, the console will be there in code

 I replaced the floors but my weld lines are where the floor meets the transmission hump. There are no holes in the side of the hump where I would guess that a console would be screwed in. I don't know how the console was installed so am not sure where else to look for holes.

How is the console attached? I did find 2 holes on the top of the hump up near the firewall, below the dash.

There was/is a sheet metal bracket that attached to the floor at one end and at the other it attached to the front end (glove box area) of a non- ac equipped car. The rest of the console is attached with a series of screws down both side of the console directly to the floor.
