Topic: Help ID air conditioning system plenum

I have a few known 1967 basic part number 18471, chamber assy - heater air plenum.  Specifically part# C7ZZ‑18471‑A.  It is shown in the first picture on the left hand side.

To the right of it is a part I picked up in a larger batch at a swap meet, along with other 1968 stuff. 

As you can see, the other part is:

1. Wider and taller
2. There are ears that stick out where the air is discharged

Other than that it is similar in material, weight, and construction.

Was there a change in 68 to this style, or is this from a Fairlane, Torino, or something else?

The 1975 version does not even list any 67-68 component available, it must have been dropped from service.

Larger - one on right appears its likely from a different application (Modified - Marty's post below does point out the picture/example below is from a non-console car)

Should have kept looking. Had to go back to my 67 pictures to find a clear (with the console out of the way) picture of a  67 AC with console car to find an example. As always - no one is smarter than all of us together Corrected/altered my post above

- Cardboard plenum for 65 to date of printing for non-AC
- For factory AC a single number C7ZZ-18471-A

No notation of being two versions for AC cars

Yes, heater floor vent with air conditioning. With and without console.
They both should have a metal mounting tab.

The supplier of the reproductions has them mis-marked. With console is the small one, and the wide winged one is designated for without console. Wrong.

Jeff, the air conditioning version is called a 'Register Assembly' and falls under part number C7ZZ-18C306-A. My MPC only mentions that it is for all "except with console".

Once again, we see the problems with using an MPC far removed from the actual year in question. In this case, Scott's comment is from the 1965-72 MPC, printed in 1975. Both the 1967 Only, and the 1960-68 MPC's show both registers, with and without consoles (C7ZZ-18C306-B and C7ZZ-18C306-A respectively).

While the 1967 Only is not easy to come by, the 1960-68 MPC is readily available in digital format. Scott (and others), you really need to add this to your Library.

Part numbers are your friend (or should be). Even apples (4016) have a part number at your local supermarket (OK, PLU = Product Look Up).

I should have attached the following listings from the MPC's before, but failed to. While the single year MPC's are great for early Part Numbers that may have been replaced early in the Model Year, they typically are "short" on Illustrations. This is the case here ; while there is a great Illustration showing a breakdown of all of the 67 Mustang Heater parts in the 1967 Only MPC, there is nothing on the 67 Mustang Interior/in dash parts for the Selectaire. The 1960-68 MPC has a great Illustration of that, which appears to have been carried over into the 1965-72 MPC, as Ford did with many, many of the other Illustrations.

Interesting that the pages printed two months (April 68) prior, the MPC didn't show the same information. Showed only one as mentioned above.
