Brake pad relining
« on: December 26, 2019, 04:43:33 PM »
Has anyone come across an outfit that would reline brake shoes or pads ? I came across a set of K/H front pads.

Paul,
It’s been a while since I looked. But there use to be several listed in the Hemings Motor News magazine.

Sent a PM to OP, but there is a place in Seattle that I just called and verified that does this work on bonded brake shoes and pads(!). I've used them before to make custom clutch discs (pucks), but they will reline your FoMoCo clutch disc to original specs too.

If you want local, try brake companies that specialize in truck (18 wheeler) brakes. They have the equipment to perform this work and may do smaller vehicles as well.
If they do the 18 wheelers they usually do hydraulics too.
Also, look to the forklift guys for hydraulics.
The Seattle outfit above will redo your flexible hydraulic brake and A/C (I believe) lines using your fittings. However, they will do a double, not a single crimp.

Haven't had to do that in decades but brings back memories of when we were building the 30-40's Fords. As you have found the shops are still out there - just not one in every town or community as they were many years ago.  And of course there is always the liability issues that we're considered way back when for shops to consider
