67 Shelby GT350 PS pump pulley and belt
« on: December 24, 2019, 01:42:18 PM »
I read that the 67 Shelby GT350 had a larger diameter PS pump pulley, which called for a C4TE-8620-AE belt.  Is that true?  I have the 67 Shelby body assembly manual but not the engine.  Thanks.

Yes, it's really large. The pulley is marked with a 7AC stamp.

I've been banned from the shop today, so no more details!

Also maybe worth mentioning is the AC equipped GT500 cars used the 7AC small block pulley instead of the 7AB pulley.

FYI the GT500 with AC shared usage with the GT350 but it was used on a bigblock applcation first  ;). I know it is semantics but the 7AC pulley is not a smallblock pulley. It was sourced from a 66 428 police car police interceptor engine prior its use on the Shelby's. I am not 100% sure but it may have been used on 67 #100 the first GT500 which  also had AC and before any GT350's with AC. It doesn't really matter but just wanted to share some trivia.

Interesting.  I guess I'll be storing the 7AB. The 7AC is the last item left to locate before I get ready to do the AC installation.

Jim C had a original for sale a few months back. It is already sold but the point is that it was the first original I had seen for sale in a number of years and I travel in many Ford parts circles. I am not saying that they are impossible to find but the odds of finding one are slim and none. Jim C sells a excellent repro. They look identical . There is a slight difference in weight and mfg process but once installed you can't tell.

You have a 7AC? or AC? The big dollar pulleys are the 7AB, 7AC and 80B.

I looked closer and it is just AC, 7AD and 7AE. Nothing rare.

They are reproducing the 7AC. It's 289.00. I doubt I'll stumble onto a used reproduction so I am just going purchase it and send it to the plater.

I thought I would clarify so others will not be confused that you are going to send your pulley to be chrome plated to match the other chrome parts on your engine. The assemblyline parts were typically semigloss black and not plated.

Bob: I would think that is self-evident.  8) I grew tired of black parts. Even the York Compressor was polished. The balance of the fasteners, idlers and support bracket are chrome.

Keith, we have a lot of traffic here and I think it was good for Bob to point that out.   I myself had forgotten.

Well, I don't know anyone else with a chrome-plated power steering pump, pulleys, water pump, alternator and crank driven pulley. I'm aware this is Concours but not one person would ever expect to see a factory engine that is covered in chrome accessories from the factory.
