Correct finish - 66 Alternator fan and pulley
« on: December 07, 2010, 06:52:38 PM »
Thanks.  Can you give me any help with my question regarding alternator pulley and fan paint/finish for a Metuchan built Jan 1966 289 coupe?  I have gone back a year and do not see any similar question or response.

Split this off in its own.

Believe these are still correct for MCA

65-66 Alternator: Natural aluminum with semi-gloss black or zinc dichromate 13-blade fan and pulley......................

But being more specific and looking at some original 66 NJ cars I would suggest semi-gloss black for the fan and pulley would be correct IMHO

Thanks for your help.  I will go with semi-gloss black for the fan and the pulley.

What would the correct colour for the band section in the middle be for a late 65 NJ car please?

Here's a picture of the band section of my late 65 alternator, as restored by Jack at Dead Nuts On.

I can't help you with a 66 example, but here's  a shot of the fan and pulley from my July 65 Metuchen built car.  The picture is after restoration by Jack, but the original pulley and fan showed traces of the original semi-gloss black.

Clear with a tint of gold/amber coloring. That is how I've mixed it in the past
