67 4 Speed VIN stampings
« on: November 15, 2019, 05:01:12 PM »
Interested in seeing examples or knowing of the details of four-speed VIN stampings from 67 Mustangs  - all plants.

Have some ongoing research related and thought I would throw out a wider net for input

Thanks

Jeff,

here is the example of my November 66 San Jose S-Code. The transmission has a RUG-M tag.

I have had several 1967 - 1970 top loaders. Every one of them had a VIN stamp as seen in this picture from David Kee's website either on the top right or top left of the case.

Royce is the picture you posted (sorry can't make it out) a 67?   And if so which plant?

Keep them coming - the more the better the conclusions we can draw from them

No idea Jeff - that picture is from David Kee's website.

Here's a photo I snapped today at a friend's house. It's a three speed from a '68 302 Cougar. Dearborn Assembly plant.

I am waiting to see if anyone can come up a 67 Mustang production trans with the VIN stamped on the front ear as has been suggested by others they were done. All the 67 production cars that I have seen were stamped on the pad underneath as in the picture. Of course I haven't seen them all . I have only seen the ones on the ear on 68 up is why.

My stamp is from my 68 but seems consistent with the rest of the stamps I have seen posted. Mine is also pretty sloppy and on an angle in on of the ears

I owned a 1967 S code 4 speed. The VIN was stamped on the bottom also. Mine was unusual in that they didn't use the "S" stamp. Whoever stamped my toploader used a "C" punch twice. Made it look like a big "S" by rotating 180° for the lower half of the "S".

FYI, I bought a HEH-BX toploader and it had a 1966 K code VIN stamped on it too.
