65 SJ - Late May / early June of engine decals
« on: November 05, 2019, 10:46:58 AM »
Looked through the unrestored thread and didn’t see any around my blue car’s build date. I’m redoing the air cleaner and would like to know which decals were present. Scheduled build date is around June 3rd of 65 built at SJ

Hopefully this is for a C or A code since you were not specific
While looking through the picture collection it made more sense to just look at the whole year production since we would likely be asked about the same subject (other production periods) at some point.

Looking through 65 C and A code air cleaners I only was able to find evidence of the cubic inch decal being applied. Since the other stickers seen at other plants were made the same way we would expect that at least a similar number, if applied, would have survived as long as the ones we found or at least some but I find no evidence of any at this point. So no FRONT (as mentioned in many of my other posts on the subject) and no service sticker on the rear top surface of the air cleaner lid.

Just a few of the 50 plus examples I have in my collection at this time.

Sorry Jeff, yes an A code.  No Autolite decal on the side or the one on the oil filler cap either I see.

My May 15 GT fastback only has the cubic inch decal as well. No remnants of any other decals. Oil filler had nothing either.

Yes - pretty bare compared to restored examples with all the decals they sell applied. In ways you can't blame them as they are relying on printed rules and suppliers to represent details correctly but allot of this has not progressed to the point of representing all the plants, applications and different production periods

Its been my experience that the oil breather decal was rarely used at this plant and year. May have seen one or two but those may have been service replacements so have to allow that possibility
